Habitat: Where Bamboo Meets the Clouds

Just like their bigger giant friends, golden monkeys thrive in bamboo-rich zones of high-altitude forests, usually between 2,200 to 3,500 meters. In Uganda, you will find them only in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, part of the larger Virunga ecosystem shared with Rwanda and Congo.

In Mgahinga, they eat like royalty — young bamboo shoots, leaves, flowers, fruit, and the occasional invertebrate.
