Your professional tour guide from Friendly Gorillas Safaris will meet you at your hotel in Kigali after breakfast, or at the airport upon arrival. After the briefing, you shall proceed right a way for a Gisozi Genocide memorial museum in Kigali, share stories about what happened in the place during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. This is where over 250,000 people were buried in massive graves during the 1994 Genocide. Proceed for a local market tour before proceeding for a drive to the famed Volcanoes.
During the drive in Rwanda’s countryside, enjoy the beautiful sceneries of the land of a thousand hills before arriving at the Volcanoes National Park, a home to almost half of the world’s last remaining population of the Mountain gorillas.
Dinner and overnight at your safari lodge.
This is your day for an adventure of a life time! Start early with breakfast at your hotel / lodge, then drive to the park headquarters in Kinigi where you will find other gorilla trekkers ready for action. Here, you shall have a briefing and have a single gorilla trekking group allocated to you. Here during the briefing, you have the opportunity to hire the service of a porter who can help you with luggage if necessary.
After the briefing, ensure you have everything including some bites and enough drinking water. It’s a jungle and the walk is somehow demanding. If you have everything with you, you are now ready to dive into the misty jungles of Volcanoes National park.
The trek in search for mountain gorillas takes 2-7hours. This depends on the gorilla movement in the wild. But after locating them, you have exactly 1 hour to enjoy watching them feed, play, relate and young ones swinging on trees.
Descend to your lodge for refreshment, late lunch at your lodge, relax as you wait for evening community walk to Musanze local market, or visit the beautiful Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo to have an incredible view of the lakes. Return to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight.
Today, you shall depart Kigali but before that, you have breakfast at your hotel / lodge and choose any of the activities listed; golden monkey tracking, Explore Musanze caves, Visit Dian Fossey Tombs, Meet gorilla Doctors, visit local schools/Community, Mt. Bishoke Hiking or second gorilla trek. Alternatively, you can relax at the hotel / lodge before transferring back to Kigali where the tour ends.
