What to expect during Small Group Safari Tour in Uganda or Rwanda

Why should i choose a group trip in Uganda?

Many times for a solo traveler or couple, joining a Uganda group safari will generally be cheaper than booking a private tour. This is because the transport cost is always shared by all the travelers, the guide and fuel costs are all part of the shared costs.

Joining a group safari also comes along with networking opportunities as you get to have enough time to ask the other group members more about their profession, what part of the continent they come from and this could be even exciting for couples to learn one or two things from each other.

There are a few times when the group members clash with each other but in this case, you can always engage our guide or office team to have this resolved immediately to avoid any future fun. We want you to have fun much throughout your stay in Uganda and Rwanda and because of this, an update about how the trip is going is of high paramount to us.

When booking a group safari, you need to be flexible with your travel dates because the departure dates are always prearranged and may not be able to change. Also, you may incur daily departure delays especially if the different groups are lodging from different accommodations.

What types of vehicles can I expect on a Uganda group safari?

Friendly Gorilla group safaris in Uganda  or Rwanda use a stretch Land Cruiser or a similarly rugged high-clearance 4×4 to travel between destinations as well as for game drives. These extended safari vehicles typically take a maximum of seven passengers and are very comfortable, but the low budget group safari vehicles called the safari vans or drones can take up to 9 guests all seated at the window and having great viewing opportunities.

What is the maximum group size recommended for a safari?

For our Uganda and Rwanda small group safari, the minimum group for a departure is 4 and the maximum group size is 12 however, if you are 12 travelers, we shall split this into two vehicles led and guided by 2 different guides. The experience is the same and the vehicles shall always move in a convoy.

If you have a slightly larger group of desire to depart in more vehicles, we can depart with up to 5 vehicles and move in a convoy while using services from neighboring accommodation just incase the budgets are different or incase the lodge can not accommodate all of the group members.

Is there a minimum age for a shared trip in Uganda?

There’s no blanket minimum age for group safaris in Uganda, but depending on the itinerary and the accommodation style, we may impose a minimum age limit. For example if the itinerary includes gorilla trekking or chimpanzee trekking, the kinds younger than 12 years old may not be able to join or if the safari includes some sort of hiking, we may limit kids from participating to avoid slowing down the rest of the group.

Always engage us to find out more before booking a group safari. Sometimes, you may be lucky if you are total number is 4 or more, we could give you the same price as a group trip and depart your safari in private.

How much do Uganda group safari packages cost?

Uganda small group tour cost depend on a variety of factors including the activities, safari duration, group number and group safari accommodation type however, you can be looking at around US$300 to US$700 per person per day for a Uganda group safari.

For example, a budget safari that does not include gorilla trekking (which costs US$800 per person) might be much cheaper. By contrast, packages that use luxury lodges and/or domestic flights, or that employ a specialist tour leader, could be a lot more expensive but, of course we understand the reason for choosing group tour isn’t just to save money.
