Your honeymoon begins when you arrive at Entebbe International Airport. Your guide from Friendly Gorillas welcomes you, helps with your luggage, and transfers you to your hotel in Kampala.
This first day gives you time to rest after your flight. You settle into your hotel, recover from travel, and prepare for the safari route ahead. If you arrive early, you may add a gentle Entebbe or Kampala experience, but we recommend keeping the day relaxed.
Your guide briefs you about the route, permits, activities, driving times, lodge categories, and special honeymoon requests.
Accommodation options in Kampala:
After breakfast, leave Kampala and drive toward Kibale Forest National Park in western Uganda.
The route takes you through towns, farms, roadside markets, tea-growing areas, and green countryside. As you approach Fort Portal, the scenery becomes more beautiful, with crater lake landscapes and cooler air.
This day eases you into the safari. You are not rushing into a major activity immediately after arrival. You travel at a comfortable pace and begin to experience Uganda’s countryside together.
Arrive near Kibale in the late afternoon or evening. Check into your lodge, relax, and enjoy dinner.
Accommodation options in Kibale:
After an early breakfast, your guide transfers you to the Kibale park offices for a chimpanzee tracking briefing.
The ranger guides explain forest rules, safety, and how to behave around chimpanzees. You then enter the forest with your ranger guide.
Kibale Forest feels lively with bird calls, monkeys, insects, and chimpanzee sounds. Once you find the chimpanzees, you spend time watching them feed, climb, groom, call, and move through the forest.
This experience gives your honeymoon an adventurous start. Chimpanzees are energetic and expressive, which makes the encounter different from the quieter gorilla experience later in Bwindi.
After tracking, return to the lodge for lunch and rest.
In the afternoon, you may add Bigodi Wetland Walk. At Friendly Gorillas, we recommend it for couples who enjoy birds, monkeys, wetlands, community life, and a slower local experience after the forest activity.
Accommodation options in Kibale:
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Depending on timing and your interests, your guide may include scenic crater lake viewpoints around the Fort Portal or Kibale region.
This day adds soft scenery to the honeymoon instead of turning the route into constant driving. The crater lakes, farms, hills, and tea areas give you good photo stops and peaceful travel moments.
Continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most popular wildlife destinations. The landscape changes into savannah, crater areas, lakes, wetlands, and open views.
Arrive at your lodge, check in, and spend the evening at leisure.
Accommodation options in Queen Elizabeth National Park:
Wake up early for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Early starts improve the chance of seeing wildlife when the park is cooler and more active.
Your guide looks for elephants, buffalo, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, warthogs, antelopes, and other animals. Lions or leopards may appear depending on movement and luck.
Return to the lodge for lunch and rest.
In the afternoon, take the Kazinga Channel boat cruise. This is one of the best activities for couples because it is relaxed, scenic, and rich with wildlife.
You may see hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, waterbirds, and animals along the shore. The cruise gives close viewing without the bumpiness of another long game drive.
Accommodation options in Queen Elizabeth National Park:
This day gives your honeymoon room to breathe. Instead of rushing immediately to Bwindi, you spend another day around Queen Elizabeth National Park.
You may choose a second game drive, a relaxed morning at the lodge, a crater lake drive, or a private romantic lodge experience depending on your package and interests.
For couples who love wildlife, an extra game drive improves the chance of varied sightings. For couples who want privacy, a slower lodge day may feel more valuable.
At Friendly Gorillas, we recommend keeping this day flexible. Honeymoons should not feel like a checklist. This extra day helps you enjoy the safari at your own pace.
Accommodation options in Queen Elizabeth National Park:
After breakfast, leave Queen Elizabeth and drive toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Depending on road conditions and route, your guide may pass through Ishasha, known for tree-climbing lions. Sightings are not guaranteed, but the route adds safari value and scenic variety.
As you continue toward Bwindi, the landscape changes from savannah to highlands, terraced farms, forested slopes, and winding roads. This transition makes the journey interesting.
Arrive near your confirmed gorilla trekking sector, check in, and rest before the gorilla trekking day.
Accommodation options in Bwindi:
Wake up early, have breakfast, and transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing.
The ranger guides explain trekking rules, safety, gorilla behavior, and how to behave once you meet the gorilla family. You then enter the forest with ranger guides and trackers.
The trek may take a shorter or longer time depending on where the gorillas moved overnight. Trails can be steep, muddy, and uneven, but the reward is unforgettable.
When you find the gorillas, you spend up to one hour with them. You may watch a silverback resting, mothers feeding, young gorillas playing, or the group moving through the forest.
For many couples, this becomes the emotional highlight of the honeymoon. It gives you a shared memory that feels rare, quiet, and deeply personal.
After the trek, return to the lodge for rest. If you want a gentle evening, you may request a private dinner or room decoration where the lodge can arrange it.
Accommodation options in Bwindi:
After breakfast, you may add a Batwa cultural experience near Bwindi. This gives your honeymoon a meaningful cultural side after the gorilla trek.
The experience may include storytelling, local interpretation, music, dance, forest heritage, or craft knowledge, depending on the community arrangement.
After the experience, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. This peaceful lake is one of the best places to rest after gorilla trekking. The calm water, terraced hills, island views, and cool air create a romantic break in the journey.
Arrive at your lodge, check in, and spend the evening at leisure.
Accommodation options at Lake Bunyonyi:
Spend the day relaxing at Lake Bunyonyi. This is one of the most important days of the itinerary because it gives you time to slow down together.
You may enjoy a canoe ride, motorboat trip, island visit, community walk, or quiet lodge time. Couples who enjoy photography will love the lake’s hills, islands, and changing light.
At Friendly Gorillas, we recommend this day for private moments rather than too many activities. A slow breakfast, lake views, a gentle boat ride, and a calm evening can make the honeymoon feel more personal.
Accommodation options at Lake Bunyonyi:
After breakfast, leave Lake Bunyonyi and drive toward Lake Mburo National Park. This park gives your honeymoon a soft wildlife ending before returning to Kampala or Entebbe.
Lake Mburo is known for zebras, impalas, elands, buffaloes, warthogs, birds, and scenic lake landscapes. It also offers optional activities such as boat rides, guided nature walks, cycling, and horseback safaris.
Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy an afternoon game drive or simply relax at the lodge.
This stop breaks the long return journey and gives you one final wildlife experience without the intensity of larger parks.
Accommodation options near Lake Mburo:
Wake up early for a final Lake Mburo activity. You may choose a game drive, guided nature walk, boat ride, or horseback safari depending on your final package.
A guided nature walk is a good honeymoon choice for couples who want a calm, close-to-nature experience. A boat ride works well for couples who prefer a relaxed final activity.
After the activity, begin the drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. You may stop at the Equator for photos, crafts, or a short break depending on timing.
Your guide drops you at your hotel in Kampala, your hotel in Entebbe, or Entebbe International Airport.
This marks the end of your 12 Days Uganda Honeymoon Safari with Gorillas, Wildlife and Lake Bunyonyi with Friendly Gorillas Safaris.

Excellent organization considering that Tony managed to plan the entire tour, permits for gorillas and chimpanzees included, just one day before departure. This is not taken for granted since the tour operator we had contacted months earlier canceled our trip 3 days before departure!
Our driver Tony, who also served as our guide, was always caring and attentive to our needs. Uganda is a country full of natural wonders, and being able to enjoy it peacefully with the right quality-price ratio allows for a full experience of all the activities
We had such a great time on our 2 day / 1 night Safari tour to Akegara National Park in Rwanda. Jado was our AMAZING tour guide who made sure we were cared for and had everything we needed during our time!
Prior to the trip, I had seamless communication with the Safari group who helped figure out exactly what Safari tour I wanted (1 day or more). They sent an example schedule as well as several lodging options. We ultimately chose the “budget” option which was the Rhino Lodge — it did not feel budget at all! It was GORGEOUS and the food was amazing. We even asked if we could adjust the schedule and they were more than happy to accommodate.
We had a fabulous time traveling to the park with Jado, getting settled and eating at the Rhino Lodge, participating in a half day safari that also included a water tour where we saw Rhinos, Crocodiles, Buffalos… and lots of birds! As soon as we drove into the park we saw an elephant and as we were leaving we saw Baboons. We slept and ate well and then the adventure began early the next day, where we had a full day of Safari through the park. We were able to see more Buffalos, impala, Baboons, Giraffes, rhinos, zebras, warthogs and even a rogue hippo wandering around on land. We unfortunately did not see any big cats (leopards or lions) but Jado certainly tried his best to find them.
Once we paid the initial fee prior to the tour, everything was included. This was an amazing trip, we felt very safe, and I would absolutely book again with this company. Thank you guys so much for being so great and easy!!!
From the planning stages to the first meet and greet, Anthony, Brenda and their team went above and beyond to ensure we had the trip of a lifetime! Friendly Gorilla Safaris gave us everything we asked for while keeping in mind our mid-range budget.
They are excellent with communication, professional, patient, and were able to answer all our questions. Our itinerary was amazing with river rafting, game drives, chimp trek and of course the gorilla trek. Accommodations were great, food delicious and Eddie our driver/guide was fantastic! Highly recommend this company.
we had the most amazing time in Uganda accompanied by our very Friendly tour guide Elias.
The support team that handled tour preparations were very kind and responded to every question we had in time. Bliss even went an extra mile to give us a video call during some of the sessions.
We were very lucky to see the rare tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector or Queen Elizabeth while exiting for Bwindi.
I highly recommend this company because they met all our expectations and even delivered more than we imagined.
It was a solo yet memory filled experience right from my first inquiry to the last day of the trip. Everything was smooth. My tour guide Eddie was beyond friendly and had an eagles eye for even the smallest animals.
The most memorable moment was my first sight of the mighty Gorillas in Bwindi.
I highly appreciate and recommend friendly Gorillas safari
Cannot recommend this company enough!!! Anthony and Brenda are fantastic and worked with us to ensure we had the trip of a lifetime. All expectations were not only met, but greatly exceeded! From our exhilarating itinerary to the memorable accommodations, every part of the experience was extraordinary.
All the activities including river rafting, game drives, gorilla/chimp/rhino treks and boat rides were spectacular, with stunning views and incredible wildlife sightings, and the food was fantastic throughout. Accommodations were wonderfully planned, and each place we stayed offered something different, but all were so lovely. The warmth and hospitality from everyone we met in Uganda is indescribable. What truly made this trip special, though, was our guide, Eddie. He was knowledgeable, professional, passionate, joyful, and also so attentive to our group’s needs.
We could not have asked for a better driver/guide – he went above and beyond to ensure we had a life-changing adventure every step of the way while simultaneously feeling like a member of the family. It was clear he genuinely cared about making sure we had the BEST time possible. This was more than a vacation – it was an adventure I’ll never forget, and I’m still majorly struggling with post-Uganda depression! Thank you Anthony, Brenda and Eddie for the most unforgettable experience ever. We miss you all!
