Where to go for a Boat Safari

The majorities of Uganda’s national parks are either next to waterways or have waterways that flow directly through them, making boat safaris an excellent way to take in the stunning scenery, fauna, and birdlife while on a leisurely boat ride.

There are many more popular boat cruises in Uganda, but the two most well-known ones are the boat cruises to the base of the falls in Murchison Falls National Park and the boat tour on Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

The Kazinga Channel, which links Lakes Edward and George, is the longest and widest natural channel in Africa. It is abundant with species, including a variety of mammals, birds, and reptiles, as well as the biggest concentration of hippos on Earth.

Great photo opportunities will present themselves as they approach the water’s edge in search of food, drink, or a place to cool down. There is much to see on the two-hour boat ride, including more than 400 kinds of water birds, buffalo, and elephants.

Boat safaris in Murchison Falls National Park

In addition to being well-known for its game drives, the Murchison Falls National Park also provides boat safaris to the delta or the base of Victoria Falls. These boat safaris are incredibly rewarding because they take you only meters from the roaring Murchison Falls and provide breathtaking views of the cascades.

A boat ride must be combined with a climb to the top of the falls in order to fully enjoy the boat’s climax at the base of the falls, where river Nile water squeezes through a small gorge as it flows downstream.

Boat safaris on Lake Mburo

Lake Mburo is a small lake where those who opt for a boat safari can enjoy a peaceful experience. Hippos, crocodiles, monitor lizards, and a variety of birds, including the magnificent African fish eagle, which often occupies a specific tree with its spouse, can be found in the lake.

Boat Safaris on Lake Victoria

Lake Victoria is Africa’s largest freshwater body and the source of the longest river, the Nile. This makes it an ideal location for a variety of boat safaris, including wine and cheese boat safaris and excursions to Ssese Island and Ngamba Island.

Canoe Excursion on Lake Bunyonyi

There are 29 islands in Lake Bunyonyi to visit, as well as charming villages, forests, and nature walks, all accessible by boat safari. Experience the wonders of Uganda’s oldest lake by traveling across it in a dugout canoe with a guide.

Boat Safaris on Lake Mutanda

One of Uganda’s most beautiful lakes, Lake Mutanda is tucked away deep in a valley and surrounded by an exquisite environment, with large hills standing out in particular. Compared to other lakes, it has the most islands; some are extremely small, while others are large enough to accommodate both small-scale gardening and human habitation. This is one of the suggested locations to visit while on safari in Uganda because of the lake’s breathtaking beauty, which includes the peaks of the Virunga Mountains, such as Muhabura, Sabinyo, and Gahinga.

Boat Safari on Mabamba Wetland

A boat safari at Mabamba harbor provides views of a distinctive, large marsh that stretches along a small harbor and is surrounded by papyrus as it approaches Lake Victoria’s main body. It is a portion of Buwaya Bay, which is southwest of Nakiwogo Bay and situated west of Entebbe International Airport.

It is situated on the mainland between Buwaya/Ziba town and Busi Island. If you enjoy birds, you really should see this. A shoebill and a multitude of other amazing and gorgeous birds will be visible to you with the assistance of the boat man and the guide.

How much is a boat cruise Uganda safari

Uganda Wildlife Authority charges 30 dollars per person per day in all national parks, including Lake Mburo, Queen Elizabeth, and Murchison Falls National Parks; at Lake Bunyonyi, the fee is 150,000 shillings.
