Itinerary in detail

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

A guide from Friendly Gorillas Safaris will pick you up from the Kigali international airport or from your hotel then he will give you a tour briefing. You will have the chance to visit Kigali’s significant places such as the Genocide War Memorial Centres before embarking on your trip to Uganda.

After visiting the area, you’ll travel for 4 hours via Katuna (Uganda-Rwanda border) to Bwindi. After Katuna, you’ll go to Bwindi’s Ruhija. This trip will allow you to see some of Rwanda’s and Uganda’s most spectacular farmland and landscapes.

In Rwanda, there are beautiful rolling hills and plantations, while in Uganda, the Bwindi district is surrounded by thick green woodland. The Gorilla Mist Camp will be our home for dinner and the night.

Day 2: Gorilla Watching & Departure

On an early morning, first have your breakfast then our guide will pick you up and drive you to the park headquarters, where you will be briefed and given details about gorilla monitoring in Bwindi.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offers a 2-day gorilla tour. You will be assigned to a gorilla squad and offered the option of hiring a porter for $10 USD. Your lodging should provide you with a packed lunch and plenty of water.

Depending on the location of your allocated gorilla family that day, gorilla trekking will take anything from 30 minutes to 6 hours. If you’ve found the gorillas, take as many pictures as you can and continue to follow the wardens’/guides’ directions.

Return to your hotel, freshen up, eat/drink something, and check out after finishing the trek. After that, our guide will return you to your hotel or the international airport in Kigali.
