The 3-Day Dolwe Island tour takes you to Jinja and one of Uganda’s secret beautiful islands located on Lake Victoria.

The Island has 13 ancient painted rock shelters, the mystery paintings are a unique pre-historic pictograph that dates back to 3000 years and are among the oldest and most extensive records of human imagination on earth.

The huge stony Rocks sitting on smaller stones without falling off or breaking making a rocky shelter create an adrenaline discovery of nature and wonder, immersing you into a real-life African adventure movie.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Namayingo
Day 2: Transfer to Dolwe Island.
Day 3: Drive Back to Kampala.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Namayingo district via Jinja

Our professional driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala at 7:00 am and start off the early morning drive on Jinja Road highway to your first stopover at the Historical Sezibwa waterfalls which are 7m high with hissing sound created by falling waters that forms magnificent scenery.

The falls are surrounded by lush vegetation and the steep rocks over which the water falls. Enjoy exciting activities like birding, camping, rock climbing, nature walks, hiking, and canoeing at the site.

Drive to Jinja City. Jinja is the adventure capital of East Africa and it is most renowned for being the home to the Source of the Nile River. You will have lunch in town and then proceed to visit Ripon Falls and thereafter continue to the real source of the Nile where you will experience the Nile River dramatically separating from Lake Victoria, the stream of water will start running towards the North forming the Victoria Nile co-joining with the Albert Nile to the Mediterranean Sea. Explore the source of the Nile.

Then continue with the scenic journey to Iganga and Namayingo District overnight.

Day 2: Dolwe Island tour

In the morning after breakfast, you shall embark on a 3-4hr scenic boat cruise from Namayingo to Dolwe Island.

Upon arrival at Dolwe Island, you will go for a nature walk at Dolwe Island with a local guide who will narrate the exciting stories about the Island.

The walks around the Island will give you a closer encounter and picturesque views of the splendid rocks and paintings; take shelter under the rocks and caves as you take photos of a lifetime experience.

Retreat from the Rock nature walk and check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Boat cruise to Namayingo and transfer back to Kampala.

Enjoy a scenic boat ride on Lake Victoria as you explore the rocky Island back to the Bwondha landing site. Lake Victoria has tranquil and calm waters that favor boat cruising and canoeing.
Upon arrival at the Bwonda landing site, you will meet your driver guide and transfer back to Kampala.
