The 3 Days Mahoma Loop Rwenzori Nature Walk and Camping Trail is a short Rwenzori hiking experience for travelers who want mountain scenery, forest trails, camping, and nature without committing to a long summit expedition. It gives you a manageable way to experience the Rwenzori Mountains within only three days.
This itinerary works well if you want a real mountain feel but do not have the time, fitness level, or budget for longer Rwenzori climbs. The Mahoma Loop route offers forest scenery, rivers, birdlife, plants, camping, and views of the lower Rwenzori landscapes.

Your guide from Friendly Gorillas meets you at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe after breakfast. After a short briefing, you begin the journey to the Rwenzori Mountains region in western Uganda.
The drive takes you through towns, roadside markets, farms, tea-growing areas, and western Uganda’s changing landscapes. As you approach the Rwenzori area, the scenery becomes greener and more mountainous.
On arrival near the trail area, you meet the local hiking team where applicable. Your guide reviews the route, camping plan, gear, porter support, meals, weather expectations, and safety guidance.
Spend the evening resting and preparing your hiking bag for the Mahoma Loop trail.
Accommodation options near Rwenzori or Kasese:
After breakfast, transfer to the trail starting point and begin the Mahoma Loop nature walk with your mountain guide.
The walk introduces you to the lower Rwenzori environment. You move through forest trails, rivers, vegetation zones, and mountain scenery. Depending on the trail conditions, you may see birds, small wildlife signs, plants, mossy forest areas, and views toward the surrounding valleys.
This day gives guests the real value of the itinerary. It is not about rushing to a summit. It is about walking slowly, enjoying nature, learning from the guide, and experiencing the Rwenzori in a shorter and more accessible way.
You continue to the camping area or selected trail accommodation depending on the final route arrangement. Spend the evening at camp, enjoy dinner, and rest in the mountain environment.
Accommodation:
Camping or basic trail accommodation depending on the selected Mahoma Loop arrangement
Wake up early for breakfast at camp. After packing up, continue with the final section of the Mahoma Loop trail.
The return walk gives you more time to enjoy the forest, mountain plants, birds, rivers, and scenic views. The trail may still be muddy or slippery, so you should walk carefully and follow the guide’s pace.
After completing the trail, meet your driver-guide and begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe.
This is a long transfer day, so you should start early. If you prefer a more comfortable pace, we recommend adding one extra night near Kasese or Fort Portal after the hike.
Your guide drops you at your hotel in Kampala, your hotel in Entebbe, or Entebbe International Airport depending on the final plan.
This marks the end of your 3 Days Mahoma Loop Rwenzori Nature Walk and Camping Trail with Friendly Gorillas Safaris.
