The 6 Days Weismann Peak Rwenzori Hiking Tour is a focused Uganda mountain adventure for travelers who want a shorter but rewarding Rwenzori hiking experience. It is designed for hikers who want forests, valleys, moorland scenery, mountain views, and a real summit-style challenge without committing to a longer Margherita Peak expedition.
Weismann Peak is a good fit for travelers who want a serious Rwenzori experience with less technical pressure than the higher summit routes. The hike gives you a strong taste of the Kilembe Trail side of the mountains, with changing vegetation, rivers, ridges, boggy sections, mountain camps, and views around the Freshfield areas when weather allows.

Your guide from Friendly Gorillas meets you at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe after breakfast. After a short briefing, you begin the drive to the Rwenzori Mountains region in western Uganda.
The journey takes you through towns, farms, roadside markets, tea-growing areas, and western Uganda’s changing countryside. As you approach the Rwenzori area, the scenery becomes greener, cooler, and more dramatic.
This first day helps guests shift from city travel into mountain mode. On arrival, you meet the local hiking team where applicable and review the route, gear, porter support, meals, weather expectations, and safety guidance.
Spend the evening resting and preparing your hiking bag.
Accommodation options near Rwenzori or Kasese:
After breakfast, transfer to the trail starting point and begin the Weismann Peak hiking route with your mountain guide and support team.
The first hiking day introduces you to the lower mountain zones. Depending on the final route, you may pass forest trails, rivers, local vegetation, farmland edges, and the first sections of the Rwenzori’s wet mountain environment.
The pace should remain steady. This day helps you adjust to the trail, weather, and hiking rhythm. The mountain team guides the pace and helps guests manage energy from the start.
This first hiking section gives a clear taste of the Rwenzori’s character. It can feel muddy, green, quiet, and scenic, with a landscape that changes quickly as you move deeper into the mountains.
Accommodation:
Mountain hut, camp, or trail accommodation depending on the selected route
After breakfast, continue deeper into the Rwenzori Mountains.
The trail may pass through river sections, forest transitions, boggy areas, open valley views, and moorland vegetation. Weather can change quickly, so you should keep rain gear and warm layers accessible.
This day gives the route more depth. You begin to see why the Rwenzori Mountains feel different from ordinary hiking destinations. The vegetation, mist, water, ridges, and quiet mountain atmosphere make the experience memorable.
At Friendly Gorillas, we recommend careful pacing on this day. The trail can be wet and tiring, so you should stay hydrated, use trekking poles where helpful, and follow the guide’s advice.
Accommodation:
Mountain hut, camp, or trail accommodation depending on the selected route
After an early breakfast, begin the main Weismann Peak hiking day. This is the key adventure moment of the itinerary.
The trail may involve steeper sections, ridges, boggy ground, and colder mountain conditions depending on the exact camp and route. The mountain team will guide guests based on weather, fitness, and safety.
On a clear day, the views can be excellent, with mountain valleys, ridges, and the surrounding Rwenzori landscape opening around you. The summit effort gives guests a strong sense of achievement without requiring the longer technical commitment of Margherita Peak.
After enjoying the summit area or highest safe viewpoint, descend carefully toward the next camp or back along the route as planned.
This is usually the most demanding day of the hike, so the evening should stay simple and focused on rest.
Accommodation:
Mountain hut, camp, or trail accommodation depending on the selected route
After breakfast, continue descending through the Rwenzori trail system toward the lower mountain zones.
The descent can still be challenging, especially when the trail is muddy or slippery. You should move carefully, use trekking poles where useful, and follow the guide’s pace.
This day gives you another chance to enjoy the mountain from a different angle. Forests, valleys, rivers, and ridges often feel different on the way down.
After reaching the lower trail area or final mountain accommodation, spend the evening resting and celebrating the completed Weismann Peak hiking experience.
Accommodation:
Mountain hut, camp, or trail accommodation depending on the selected route
After breakfast, complete the final descent or trail exit with your mountain guide and support team.
After finishing the hike, meet your driver-guide and begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. This is a long travel day, so the schedule should be planned carefully.
If you want better comfort, we recommend adding one extra night near Kasese or Fort Portal after the hike before driving back. This gives the body time to recover and makes the return smoother.
Your guide drops you at your hotel in Kampala, Entebbe, or Entebbe International Airport depending on your final plan.
This marks the end of your 6 Days Weismann Peak Rwenzori Hiking Tour with Friendly Gorillas Safaris.
