Join us on a 4-day Uganda safari to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where Silver and Gold collide. This safari is ideal for primate trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, where you can see both mountain gorillas and rare golden monkeys.
DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Move to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Meet your driver guide and move to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park after breakfast. The park is about a 9-hour drive from Kampala. Have a photo break at the Equator and make a few phone calls.
This trip is made more enjoyable and amazing by several stops to buy roadside snacks and fruits. Take a break for lunch en route and intend to arrive in the evening. Dinner and an overnight stay at a cabin are included.
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
You get up early today, have a hot cup of coffee, and drive to the Ntebeko Information Center with your prepared lunch. Register to get a concise overview of gorilla trekking’s dos and don’ts. Start a hike at 8:00 a.m. in search of Nyakagezi, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park’s only gorilla family.
It’s a strenuous climb up and downhill through dense woodland, but it’s well worth it. Spend an hour with the gorillas, take pictures, and enjoy the human-like personalities of the gorillas in their tribe.
Mountain gorilla trekking is one of the most incredible nature experiences on the planet. At the cabin, you’ll have dinner and spend the night.
Day 3: Community tour and golden monkey trekking
Like the previous day with gorillas, get up early, have tea, and head to the Ntebeko Visitor Information Center for briefing and registration. Two armed park rangers will be assigned to each squad.
Start your ascent up the hill in search of the golden monkeys. The hike takes about 3-4 hours. You will be given an hour to spend with golden monkeys. Enjoy their playful antics, snap photos, record live videos, and soak in this beautiful moment.
In the evening, you’ll visit nearby communities to meet local Batwa people and hear about their customs, cultural performances, music, culture, and more. The lodge will be your home for the night.
4th Day: Departure
After breakfast, check out and return to Kampala via the Igongo Cultural Center for a sumptuous local buffet, the Equator for a final photo opportunity and shopping craft, and then to Entebbe Airport for your departure trip.
