OVERVIEW
This 2-day Uganda gorilla tour from Kigali is intended for tourists who would rather take the shorter path to Bwindi from Kigali Rwanda rather than the 9-hour trip from Uganda’s Entebbe international airport. The journey starts in Kigali, Rwanda, and continues through Katuna, Uganda, to the breathtaking Kigezi highlands, and finally to Ruhija, Bwindi.
Itinerary in detail
Kigali, Rwanda to Bwindi, Uganda, Day 1
Friendly Gorillas Safaris will pick you up from the Kigali international airport or your hotel and give you a tour briefing. You will have the chance to visit Kigali and significant places such as the genocide war memorial centers before embarking on your trip to Uganda. After visiting the area, you’ll travel for 4 hours via Katuna (Uganda-Rwanda border) to Bwindi. After Katuna, you’ll go to Bwindi’s Ruhija. This trip will allow you to see some of Rwanda’s and Uganda’s most spectacular farmland and landscapes. In Rwanda, there are beautiful rolling hills and plantations, while in Uganda, the Bwindi district is surrounded by thick green woodland. The Gorilla Mist Camp will be our home for dinner and the night.
Day 2: Gorilla Watching & Departure
You will have to get up really early in the morning to eat breakfast. Our guide will pick you up and drive you to the park headquarters, where you will be briefed and given details about gorilla monitoring in Bwindi. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offers a 2-day gorilla tour. You will be assigned to a gorilla squad and offered the option of hiring a porter for $10 USD. Your lodging should provide you with a packed lunch and plenty of water. Depending on the location of your allocated gorilla family that day, gorilla trekking will take anything from 30 minutes to 6 hours. If you’ve found the gorillas, take as many pictures as you can and continue to follow the wardens’/guides’ directions. Return to your hotel, freshen up, eat/drink something, and check out after finishing the trek. After that, our guide will return you to your hotel or the international airport in Kigali.
