Itinerary in detail

Day 1: Arrive in Kigali and move to the National Park of Volcanoes.

Meet your driver guide from our company at Kigali International Airport and move to Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda. It takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes to drive from Kigali to Volcanoes Park.

Day 2: Trekking with mountain gorillas

Early morning wake-up call, tea, and transition to Kinigi Park Headquarters for registration and a briefing on gorilla trekking dos and don’ts. You’ll be divided into eight sections, each with its own gorilla family.

Begin the trek into the forest at 8:00 a.m. to see the endangered gorillas. Depending on where the gorillas are that day, trekking time will vary from 30 minutes to over 6 hours. You are, however, almost certain to find them. Spend an hour with the endangered gorillas after meeting them.

Enjoy the gorillas’ human-like personalities, take pictures, and have a good time with your family. Drive back to the lodge after descending and picking up your tracking certificates. At the cabin, you’ll have dinner and spend the night (Day 1)

Day 3: Cultural tour of Ibyiwachu and flight to Arusha

Get a cup of coffee in the morning and head to the Ibyiwachu Cultural Centre to hear about Rwandan customs, norms, and values. For entertainment, enjoy and participate in Rwanda’s traditional dances. After that, travel to Kigali airport to catch your flight to Tanzania.

Move to Serengeti National Park on Day 4

With a cup of coffee in hand, set out on the 6-hour drive to Serengeti, Tanzania’s most popular tourist destination. Enjoy this scenic trip, which includes multiple stops for roadside food and interaction with locals. Return to your cabin for dinner and a restful night’s sleep.

Day 5: Game viewing for the whole day

You’ll get up early, eat tea, and then head on a game drive through the open savannahs. The game drives have outstanding views of the park’s many wild animals hunting, feeding, and browsing. Elephants, tigers, buffalos, rhinos, leopards, wildebeests, giraffes, hippos, jackals, Serval cats, Topis, Waterbucks, warthogs, Monitor lizards, and foxes are only a few of the species you can expect to see.

You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in the wilderness before going for an evening game drive to see the animals eat before retiring for the night. At the cabin, you’ll have dinner and spend the night.

Day 6: Optional Balloon Safari & Ngorongoro Crater Safari

Have an optional balloon safari in the early morning for aerial views of wildlife and entry into Serengeti National Park. Return to the lodge for a late breakfast, then freshen up, sign out, and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. At the cabin, you’ll have dinner and spend the night.

Day 7: Big five game and Olduvai Gorge visit

Get up early and go to the Ngorongoro Crater for a big five game. You will see various wild animals including lions, Rhinos, Elephants, Buffalos, elands, Blue monkeys, Hippos, Wildebeests, Leopards, Zebras, Gazelles, kobs, jackals and spotted hyenas among others. After a delicious picnic meal, head to the Olduvai Gorge to see the earliest signs of human evolution.

A guided gorge walk is an unforgettable experience that you should not miss, as is dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 8: Fly to Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

Get up, eat breakfast, check out, and drive to the airstrip to catch a flight to Masai Mara National Park. Upon arrival, have lunch and take leisurely game drive through the open plains of Masai Mara to explore resident wildlife that call this fine park home.  Return to the lodge for dinner and a night’s accommodation.
